The magnificent Co-operative building dominates the Newgate Street area of the City. The design is entirely 1930s, with a modern, yet very dignified frontage with its twin towers and simple lines, which fits in with the surrounding buildings today as well as it has ever done. This building replaced an earlier store of 1870 on the same site.
